“The content has to be interactive and useful,” Scott says. Tabs on his Facebook page give guests information about local restaurants, including menus, which ones deliver, and even delivery charges. Using the Facebook page, associates can shoot a link to the guests’ GPS-enabled phone that will guide the guest right to the front door.
Guests are turned off when businesses use social networking only as an advertising vehicle. “People won’t ‘like’ your site, if all you do is clutter their inboxes with ads,” said Scott who takes his efforts one step further by gathering and then sharing daily posts and best practices with his fellow GMs to make their networking less time-consuming and more effective.
